On June 30, Guizhou University’s 2024 Graduation and Degree Awarding Ceremony --"Embarking on New Journeys, Embracing New Achievements” -- was held in the East Campus Stadium.
University leaders, including GZU CPC Secretary Yang Wei and President Song Bao'an, alongside faculty, staff, graduates, and their families, attended the ceremony. It was hosted by CPC Deputy Secretary Zhang Jie. The event commenced with the national anthem, followed by Vice President Chen Xiangsheng's announcement of graduation documents and Vice President Zhang Dalin's announcement of the commendation documents for outstanding graduates. The university awarded 349 undergraduates and 266 postgraduates the title of "Outstanding Graduates."
Yang Wei presented appointment letters to “Alumni Engagement Coordinators”. Retired teachers and representatives of graduates recited the poem "Go to the West" and donned sashes for the graduates involved in the Western Project (a volunteer service in grassroots areas in the western regions for a period of 1 to 3 years). The graduates presented flowers to teachers, parents, and staff.
Leng Chuanli, Dean of the Law College, encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning and face challenges bravely.
Zhu Yunyan, a parent of a 2020 marketing major now in the military, emphasized the importance of the school's environment and faculty as strong support for graduates.
Zhang Qingke, an undergraduate in Physical Education, and Gao Lei, a doctoral graduate in Geochemistry, pledged to uphold GZU’s motto “Illustrious Virtue, Utmost Goodness, Extensive Learning, and Earnest Practice” and contribute to national rejuvenation.
President Song Bao'an, in his speech "Gathering Upward Strength with Steadfast Efforts," highlighted the achievements of the Class of 2024, including their contribution to rural revitalization and success in the National College Students’ Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Works Competition "Challenge Cup." He urged graduates to combine ideals with practical actions and start their new chapters with determination and courage.
The degree awarding ceremony saw over 200 graduates receiving their certificates. The event concluded with the Guizhou University anthem, marking the Class of 2024's readiness to embark on new journeys and create new achievements.
