On June 28, a face-to-face meeting between representatives of this year's graduating class of Guizhou University and the university's leaders took place at the Chinese Culture Academy on East Campus. Attendees of the meeting included GZU's CPC Committee Secretary Yang Wei, President Song Bao'an, their deputies and other faculty and staff representatives. The 18th of its kind, this meeting served as a platform for graduating students to reminisce about their life at Guizhou University and offer suggestions to the university about how to improve its work.
At the meeting, Vice President Zhang Dalin shared the latest progress the university has made in addressing students' needs and suggestions. A Q&A session was also held so that representatives from both the academic and administrative divisions of the university could hear students' requests and receive feedback on their services.
On their part, new graduates informed the teachers of the accomplishments they made while studying at GZU in terms of academics, scientific research, volunteering and other off-campus activities. They also expressed their gratitude to their teachers and the university.
Also invited to the meeting was prominent GZU alumnus Gao Anqin (class of 2017), who has won national accolades for his selfless and remarkable contribution to Guizhou's poverty alleviation as the leader of a remote village in the southwestern part of the province. He encouraged new graduates to work hard toward their ideals and fulfill their social responsibilities in the new era.
The meeting concluded with an award ceremony, where Secretary Yang Wei and President Song Bao'an presented the new graduates with a sailboat-shaped trophy as a token of their wishes for the latter's success in the future.
