On May 14th, Yin Yueping, a distinguished alumnus from the class of hydrogeology and engineering geology in 1977 revisits Guizhou University. Yin Yueping is currently serves as academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and chief scientist of China Geological Environment Monitoring Institute (Geological Hazard Technical Guidance Centre under the Ministry of Natural Resources).Yang wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of GZU andAcademician Song Bao’an, the President of GZU met with Academician Yin respectively. They expressed their gratitude for Yin’s longstanding support and concern for the development of GZU. Yang Wei presented Academician Yin with his student records in the university as a token of remembrance.
Academician Yin visited History Museum of GZU, reviewed his time of studying and inscribed “Gratitude to Alma Mater” for the museum as an expression of his appreciation.
Academician Yin gave an academic lecture entitled “Major Geological Disasters in Towns and Cities in Western Mountainous Areas and Geological Safety Assurance” in the Academic Lecture Hall of Xianzheng Building. Zhang Dalin, Vice President of GZU presided over the lecture. In his lecture, Academician Yin analyzed the characteristics of major geological disasters anddemonstrated protection technologies and their effectiveness. Drawing from years of frontline research and dedication to disaster prevention and mitigation in mountainous regions, he shared inspiring stories about commitment, hard work and truth-seeking.
After the lecture, Academician Yin was interviewed by the Alumni Association. He encouraged students preparing for the national college entrance examination to apply to the College of Resource and Environmental Engineering of Guizhou University. He emphasized the importance of aiming high, pursuing knowledge diligently and laying a solid foundation for future contributions to the country.
Beside the Yuehu Lake, Academician Yin worked with teachers and students to plant trees, adding new green for the academician forest.
