GZU’s New Chapter in International Cooperation

On May 13th, Secretary of CPC GZU Committee Yang Wei shared her experiences and insights from her educational exchange visit to Europe with the Guizhou Provincial Education Delegation, using the keywords Curiosity, Enrichment, and Confidence. In an engaging interview-style lecture on the East Campus, Yang Wei, along with key faculty members and international partners, discussed "A New Chapter in Guizhou University's International Cooperation." Participants included Chen Yanbo, Director of the Human Resources Office and Dean of the College of Philosophy, Hong Yun, Director of the Office of International Relations and Dean of the North Alabama International Institute of Engineering and Technology, Keyan Zhu, Director of International Cooperation Partnerships Development at London Metropolitan University, and British teacher Geary David Patrick.

From April 14th to 21st, Yang Wei and others accompanied the Guizhou Provincial Education Delegation on an educational exchange visit to Europe. Organized by the Provincial Department of Education, the delegation included representatives from six provincial universities and conducted exchange and research activities with universities, research institutions, and international organizations in the UK and Austria. This visit also featured the first-ever education resource promotion and high-level talent exchange conferences in Europe.

Highlights of UK visit included signing cooperation agreements with Coventry University and the University of Huddersfield, unveiling the Guizhou University Overseas Tourism Management Internship Base, and engaging in high-level talent exchange at the University of Oxford. The delegation also visited the Chinese Embassy in the UK, New College, Oxford, London Metropolitan University, the University of the West of England, and the University of Bristol.In Austria, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy, which expressed strong support for Guizhou University's efforts to deepen educational exchanges. They also met with Wolf-Dieter Rausch, President of the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet, and conducted visits to the Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna.

In the lecture, Yang Wei emphasized the importance of open education and international cooperation in advancing the university's "Double First-Class" initiative (first-class universities and disciplines initiative). She highlighted the significant growth in the university's internationalization and influence, and the plans to further enhance international exchange platforms and resources.

Participants shared their insights on international education, encouraging students to improve their cross-cultural communication skills and strive to become globally-minded talents.
