Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications and Technology Committee of Xiaomi Group Visit GZU for Exchange

On the morning of April 28th, researchers Qiu Chengdong, Zhang Xiaoming, and Hu Guoqing from the Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications, accompanied by members of Xiaomi Group’s Technical Committee, visited Guizhou University and a symposium was held. Wang Jinrong, Vice President of GZU was present at the symposium, which was chaired by Wu Fuzhong, Director of GZU's Institute of Science and Technology.

Zhang Xiaoming provided an overview of the Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications, including details on personnel requirements and cooperation strategies. Zhang expressed his expectation to establish cooperation with Guizhou University to jointly nurture doctoral students and capitalize on the academic strengths of both sides, highlighting the potential for collaborative training programs with dual mentoring and the exploration of new and innovative forms of cooperation.

Zhou Yujia, Secretary General of the Xiaomi Group Technology Committee, delivered a detailed presentation on the collaboration of the technology, education, and industry integration community in the next-generation smart hardware sector. He emphasized the importance of university-enterprise cooperation to drive progress in areas like industrial implementation, research talent development, and talent recruitment.

Wang Jinrong warmly welcomed the delegation of the Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications and the Technology Committee of Xiaomi Group. He provided a brief overview of GZU’s development history and recent progress in comprehensive strength, discipline construction, and talent cultivation. Wang highlighted the high academic standards and practical experience of both the Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications and Xiaomi Group in their respective fields. He suggested potential collaboration in joint doctoral training programs focused on areas such as mechanical engineering, mathematics and statistics, and big data to foster the development of high-level talents. Wang expressed his desire for continued communication and cooperation with both the Institute and Xiaomi Group, aiming to explore innovative models for talent cultivation and research project collaboration in order to better support socioeconomic development.

At the symposium, the three parties engaged in in-depth discussions on joint talent cultivation, scientific research, and technological product innovation.

Representatives from the Guiyang Municipal Government, Baiyun District Government, and officials from the Municipal Education Bureau, Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and Municipal Big Data Bureau, along with representatives from relevant departments and colleges of our university, were in attendance at the symposium.
