Participants from other relevant offices included An Shouhai, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and representatives from various sectors and companies.

In her speech, Yang Wei noted that since the 18th CPC National Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping has stressed the importance of ensuring the safety and security of national energy and mineral resources. Guizhou is rich in mineral resources and the careful exploitation of these resources is an important strategy on the path of the new industrialization. To this end, Guizhou plays a major role in safeguarding the nation’s energy and resource security, with the aim of accelerating the modernization of urgent industrial practices. Yang added that GZU is obliged to focus on tackling issues and try to fulfill the goals of this strategic initiative. At the same time, the university should work hard to implement this national strategic plan while making every effort to promote socioeconomic growth in the region. In recent years, the university has provided high-quality training for talented recruits due to the promotion of this initiative. As a result, the university has seen an increased focus on talent training and scientific and technological innovation. Furthermore, Yang stressed the purpose of this meeting is to discuss how to further leverage the university’s advantages in academic programs and unique positions. In other words, it is vital for the university to discover how to best apply its capabilities. Additionally, she suggested that it is crucial to follow the guidelines of the industrial strategies for the exploitation of ore resources, as well as the blueprint for the “461 project” in Guizhou. Lastly, she encouraged everyone present to pioneer in key technologies and find the best solutions for the ore exploitation projects.

In his speech, An Shouhai emphasized that implementing the “Rich Ore, Careful Exploitation” is the top priority for this year. It is crucial for those with mine-related tasks to build a team of highly skilled professionals in order to successfully deliver on this strategic plan.

During the meeting, participants discussed the project proposals centered around “Rich Ore, Careful Exploitation” initiative. Based on these discussions, the experts provided their assessments and scores.

Lastly, Song Bao’an stressed that GZU should make every effort to realize industrialization. This will happen if we are innovative and take on a pioneering spirit. In addition, both the faculty members and students will have to devote themselves fully into this mission. Only by taking this approach can we prepare ourselves fully for the scientific practices. He suggested that changes need to be made to the systems if the university must ensure that the advancements and progress made can be effectively translated into practical outcomes and impacts.
