GZU Hosts 2024 Spring New Recruit Farewell Ceremony

With youthful vigor and a strong sense of duty, new recruits from Guizhou University (GZU) are set to embark on their journey to serve the nation. On the afternoon of March 13, Guizhou University held its 2024 Spring New Recruit Farewell Ceremony on the West Campus. Prominent figures in attendance included Yang Wei, Secretary of the University Party Committee; Academician Song Bao'an, President of GZU; other university leaders; and Colonel Tian Peng, Minister of the Huaxi District People's Armed Forces Department. Enlisted students, their parents, university recruitment workgroup leaders, college representatives, and student representatives also attended. The ceremony was hosted by Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Jie.

Yang Wei extended congratulations on behalf of the university to the newly enlisted students, and highlighted GZU’s commitment to national defense education and the implementation of Xi Jinping’s military ideology. She praised the students who have joined the military for protecting the country and bringing honor to the university. Yang expressed her hopes that the new recruits will stay loyal to their mission, strengthen their military skills, and showcase their talents.

During the ceremony, Tian Peng announced the "2024 Spring Guizhou University New Recruit List." The attending leaders adorned the enlisted student representatives with flowers, and Song Bao'an presented the "Secretary and President’s Special Award: Enlisting Scholarship" to the student representatives.

"In our future military careers, we will consciously implement the goals of listening to the Party's command, being able to win battles, and maintaining an excellent work style. We strive to become a new generation of soldiers with soul, skills, courage, and integrity," said student representative Ran Qiang in his speech.

Before the farewell ceremony, university leaders, teachers, and all new recruits planted 10 tall cedars on the West Campus to commemorate the recruits' initial aspirations and honor the nurturing they received from the University.
