On October 25th, a delegation led by Ren Yi, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, visited Guizhou University (GZU) and attended an exchange symposium on the West Campus. GZU officials present at the symposium included Vice President Zhou Shaoqi and heads of relevant departments and colleges. The symposium was chaired by Hong Yun, Director of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation at GZU.
Zhou Shaoqi extended his warm welcome to Vice-Chancellor Ren Yi and his delegation, and provided an overview of Guizhou University's discipline construction, educational characteristics, and talent cultivation. He expressed optimism about potential collaboration with the University of Southern Queensland, particularly in talent development, faculty and student exchanges, and scientific research cooperation. Such collaboration can contribute to the enhancement of composite talents, discipline construction, and the high-quality development of both institutions.
Ren Yi outlined the educational characteristics of the University of Southern Queensland and analyzed the existing collaboration between the two universities. He acknowledged the smooth scientific research partnership over the past five years and conveyed confidence in the research strength of Guizhou University. Ren Yi hoped to strengthen cooperation in areas such as agriculture, materials and metallurgy, resources, and environmental engineering so as to jointly cultivate high-quality talents and achieve mutual benefits.
