Preparatory Meeting for the 18th “Challenge Cup” Competition Held at GZU

On the afternoon of October 17, the preparatory meeting for the 18th “Challenge Cup” National College Students’ Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition was held at the West Campus of GZU. The meeting was attended by Shi Qilin, Secretary of the Provincial Youth League Committee, Yang Wei, Secretary of the CPC GZU Committee, Academician Song Bao’an, President of GZU, Linghu Caitao, Deputy Secretary of the CPC GZU Committee, and Zhang Dalin, Vice President of GZU. The Guizhou provincial preparatory work leading group of the “Challenge Cup” competition and relevant heads from various special working groups also participated. The meeting was chaired by Li Jian, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth League Committee.

During the meeting, each special working group reported on their preparatory work and discussed related matters for the “Challenge Cup”, including conference services, news publicity, supporting activities, logistics, security, transformation of competition results, and volunteer services.

Shi Qilin emphasized that as the preparatory work for the event is progressing smoothly, each special working group should spare no effort to accomplish a flawless final outcome. They are expected to accomplish solid results in transforming outcomes, attracting investment, and recruiting talent. Also, it is important to create a robust societal atmosphere, especially among young people, that reveres science. Moreover, ensuring that all tasks are executed with precision and perfection is imperative. He further underlined the importance of progressing with the preparations, encompassing conference reception, transformation of project outcomes, news publicity, fostering a societal atmosphere, organizing exhibitions, facilitating meetings and exchanges, and managing funds throughout the event.


Song Bao’an pointed out that GZU is dedicated to successfully hosting the 18th “Challenge Cup”. All related departments of the university should fulfill their duties and steadily advance their work. The “Challenge Cup” should be regarded as an opportunity to further enhance GZU’s positive image and foster a better educational atmosphere of higher education in Guizhou. It is also aimed to cultivate students’ interest and capability in scientific research and establish a lasting educational mechanism. He underscored the importance of strengthened coordination, systematic review of unresolved issues, timely communication, improved integration and cooperation for successful organization of the event. Additionally, he highlighted the establishment of a work ledger to ensure the completion of each task.


Yang Wei stressed that the 18th “Challenge Cup” is a “grand stage” to showcase the remarkable development of Guizhou and a “major platform” for college students to guide younger students in innovative development by displaying their talents. GZU’s preparatory work should consider the broader perspective while paying attention to details, ensuring the precise and meticulous completion of each task. All special working groups should actively coordinate with each other to implement various tasks such as security and news publicity. A seamless integration of efforts and effective follow-up is essential to guarantee the comprehensive readiness of all aspects of the preparatory work.
