GZU Hosts Exchange Meeting with Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment

On the morning of October 12, an exchange meeting took place between the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences (NIES) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Guizhou University in Conference Room 202 of Building 1, Xianzheng Building, West Campus. Academician Song Bao’an, President of GZU, and Liu Guocai, Party Secretary and Director of the NIES, attended the meeting. Heads of relevant departments from both institutions also participated.

Song Bao’an provided a brief introduction of GZU, highlighting its achievements in talent development, student education, and discipline advancement. He underscored that GZU, with effective support from its disciplines and talent teams, has registered significant progress and achieved fruitful results in ecological and environmental teaching and research. He expressed the hope that this meeting would be an opportunity for GZU to engage in deeper cooperation with the NIES and better contribute its wisdom and strength to ecological and environmental research.

Liu Guocai highlighted GZU’s remarkable scientific research achievements in the field of ecology and environment, stressing the deep-rooted and highly aligned nature of the cooperation between the two institutions. He envisioned joint efforts in identifying research directions and planning projects, especially in areas such as new pollutants, pollution prevention and control, and pesticide safety. The aim is to establish a demand-oriented exchange platform tailored to the characteristics of Guizhou to further strengthen cooperation.

During the meeting, Zhang Shengtian, Director of the Science and Technology Department of the NIES, provided an overview of the institute, covering its organizational structure, scientific research platform, talent team, and key achievements. Discussions among participants centered on topics related to ecological environment initiatives in the western region, pollution prevention and control platforms, as well as monitoring and risk assessment.
