On October 10th, Weng Tiehui, the Deputy Minister of Education, visited Guizhou University (GZU). Ms. Weng and her delegation were received by key provincial leaders, including Zhang Jingping, the Deputy Governor of the People's Government; Zou Lianke, the Deputy Secretary of the Education Committee, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Education Department. GZU leaders Yang Wei, Song Bao’an, Linghu Caitao, Wu Pan, and Zhao Liuyan were also present for her visit.
Weng Tiehui and her team visited the National Key Laboratory of Public Big Data jointly established by the province and the ministry. During their visit, they gained insights into the university's efforts on mental health education on campus. In particular, they discussed how this focus could be best integrated into the student community and building complex. Apart from providing suggestions regarding the university's academic programs, Ms. Weng stressed that more efforts should be made to arrange students' advisors to stay in the dorm building. She urged those in charge to gather useful information about students' health issues and learn to respond to their mental needs in a timely manner.
