On September 22nd, Guizhou University (GZU) hosted the "Xishan International Biopharmaceutical Forum and the 2023 Traditional Chinese and Ethnic Medicine Innovation Research Forum" in Guiyang. This gathering was a collaborative effort between the Guizhou Association for Science and Technology, the Guizhou Pharmaceutical Association, and GZU, with GZU's College of Pharmaceutical Sciences taking the lead in hosting.
Among the attendees were Yang Yongbin, Vice Chairman of the Guizhou Association for Science and Technology, and Wu Pan, Vice President of Guizhou University.
Yang Yongbin highlighted that Guizhou, known as a "natural pharmaceutical treasury" and the "hometown of Miao traditional medicine," is one of China's four major traditional Chinese medicine production hubs. The region's rich medicinal plant resources give it a unique edge in the pharmaceutical industry. He underscored the importance of the forum in facilitating biopharmaceutical discussions and fostering collaboration among domestic and international experts. The event holds significance for propelling the innovative application and sustainable evolution of Guizhou's medicinal resources. Yang Yongbin affirmed the Association's commitment to joining forces with scientists and technologists to boost the province's pharmaceutical industry.
Vice President Wu Pan shared insights into GZU's proactive role in advancing pharmacy-related disciplines, guided by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government. He highlighted the forum as a reflection of GZU's strategic vision and commitment to its mission. Pan hoped that the experts would establish ongoing collaborations with the College of Pharmacy at Guizhou University, aiding its continuous growth in curriculum design, platform building and research.
The forum's theme was "Biopharmaceutical R&D, International Academic Exchanges, Caring for Human Health, and Promoting Guizhou's Development." Experts and scholars at the event delivered speeches aligned with this theme.
