On September 15th, Guizhou University (GZU) convened the Teacher Representatives Symposium for the fall semester of 2023. The gathering was graced by the presence of the university dignitaries, including Li Jianjun, Secretary of GZU Party Committee, along with Vice Presidents Zhou Shaoqi, Zhang Dalin, and Chen Xiangsheng. Heads of relevant administrative departments and teacher representatives were also in attendance, with Zhang Dalin presiding over the proceedings.
During the symposium, participants delved into the content of a letter from President Xi Jinping, addressed to outstanding teacher representatives across the country. Teacher representatives shared their reflections on the letter and offered recommendations for advancing GZU's commitment to high-quality education.
Li Jianjun delivered his insights, drawing upon his personal educational journey and 38-year teaching experience. He underscored the honorable mission of educators, emphasizing their substantial responsibilities. Teachers, in his view, must not only concentrate on disseminating knowledge but also give due consideration to instilling values in students. Li stressed the importance of upholding the principle of "everything for the students, for every student, and for everything about students," exemplifying the spirit of educators through their actions.
Li asserted that all educators at GZU should steadfastly uphold the earnest expectations articulated by President Xi Jinping and ardently promote the spirit of educators. To this end, he outlined three key imperatives:
Thorough Comprehension implementation of Xi’s guidelines on education;
Self-improvement for better contribution to nurturing quality talents;
Fulfillment of the fundamental mission of fostering quality talents with professional skills and noble character, thus strengthening the educational system and contributing to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
