Sub-forum of the China-ASEAN Xishan Forum Held at GZU

On September 2nd, hosted by Guizhou University and supported by the China-ASEAN Center, the China-ASEAN Xishan Forum’s sub-forum on Smart Agriculture and Intelligent Agricultural Equipment was held by the College of Mechanical Engineering of GZU at the Dezheng Building. The sub-forum, under the theme of Development and Future of Smart Agriculture and Intelligent Agricultural Equipment, focuses on agricultural artificial intelligence, agricultural sensors, remote sensing and precision agriculture, and intelligent agricultural equipment, showcasing the intelligence in the new era of agricultural development. Over 200 experts, scholars, and graduate students from the USA, Malaysia, Pakistan, Tunisia, Yemen, Italy, South China Agricultural University, and the Guizhou Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs participated in the event both online and offline.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Wu Pan, Vice President of GZU, delivered an opening speech. Wu pointed out that the College of Mechanical Engineering should take the opportunity of the China-ASEAN Xishan Forum to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN countries on the basis of existing cooperation in smart agriculture and mountainous intelligent agricultural equipment, so as to jointly explore the future development direction of smart agriculture and intelligent agricultural equipment and promote the high-quality development of agricultural industries in China and ASEAN countries.

Tang Longqiang, Chief Veterinary Physician of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the opening ceremony and addressed the gathering. He emphasized the significance of the sub-forum and hoped that Guizhou University and ASEAN countries would carry out in-depth exchanges on special topics and vigorously develop smart agriculture and intelligent agricultural equipment to promote Guizhou’s transformation from a traditional agricultural province to a technologically advanced one in agriculture.

Eleven experts and scholars delivered reports at the sub-forum, including Professor Luo Xiwen, from South China Agricultural University, Hu Zhichao, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, CTO XUBIN SONG from ePower Mobility LLC, and Professor Zhang Fugui from the College of Mechanical Engineering of GZU, etc.. They carried out exchanges and discussions on the latest frontiers, difficulties, and hot topics in the field of smart agriculture and intelligent agricultural equipment. In the following group report, 17 PhD and master’s students from home and abroad presented a diverse range of academic reports. In the end, 7 reports were selected as Outstanding Graduate Student Report, and the winners were presented awards.

The current sub-forum of the China-ASEAN Xishan Forum, with its focus on promoting the intelligent and modern development of agriculture, is no doubt a grand event that integrates politics, industry, academia, research, promotion, and application in agricultural technology innovation and application. The College of Mechanical Engineering of GZU will continue to build an international, inter-regional, inter-university, and interdisciplinary platform for learning and exchange in smart agriculture and intelligent agricultural equipment, fostering social responsibility among young agricultural scholars, and encouraging them to contribute innovative solutions to global agricultural technology development and food security challenges.
