On September 1st, the China-ASEAN Xishan Forum commenced its subforum on Green Pesticides and the Seminar on "Belt and Road" National Green Prevention and Control of Vegetable Pests and Diseases. These events took place at the National Key Laboratory of Green Pesticides of GZU. With the theme "Green Pesticides, Plant Protection Technology, Cooperative Innovation, and Advanced Development," the forum brought together experts from domestic and international universities, as well as government officials, to discuss new theories and technologies related to the application of green pesticides.
At the opening ceremony, Vice President Li Fei presided over the event and delivered an opening remark. He emphasized that GZU has been actively collaborating with ASEAN countries in various fields, under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and the Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee and Government. This has resulted in increased academic exchanges and mutual benefits for GZU and ASEAN countries in areas such as talent development, collaborative research platforms, and agricultural technology cooperation. They have also worked together to monitor, warn and control the spread of agricultural pests and diseases. Li further emphasized GZU's commitment to collaborating continuously with ASEAN countries to address new issues in the agricultural industry. He called on everyone involved to explore new patterns to train skilled professionals, promote R&D programs related to the application of novel green prevention and control pesticides, and promote new green prevention technologies. These efforts will drive ASEAN's agricultural industry forward and boost regional economic and social prosperity.
During the event, Professor Wu Jian, Executive Deputy Director of the Fine Chemical Research and Development Center, provided an introduction to the National Key Laboratory of Green Pesticides of GZU. He highlighted its history, research platform, team building, scientific research, support services, talent development, and future plans. Following this, experts from both domestic and international universities delivered academic reports on the application of new pesticides, including their intended results and mechanisms, as well as field application techniques.
Furthermore, experts from ASEAN countries signed a cooperation agreement between GZU and the "Belt and Road" National Green Prevention and Control of Vegetable Pests and Diseases. Additionally, post-doctoral fellows of GZU, along with dozens of PhD and Master's students, presented reports and shared insights during discussions on plant protection and the research of new pesticides.
