On August 22nd, an academic lecture was givenat Guizhou University by Tan Tianwei, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the President of Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The lecture is part of the “Academician Tour to Guizhou” organized by the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It was presided over by Wu Pan, Vice President of Guizhou University.Sun Ning, professor of Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Li Yuan, Deputy Director of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Science and Technology, attended the lecture. The attendees also included more than 200 faculty and students from the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and College of Materials and Metallurgy.
The lecture is titled “Biomanufacturing Changing the Future” in which Academician Tan introduced the latest research developments and reflections in the field of biomanufacturing. He covered topics including the definition of biomanufacturing, why biomanufacturing is essential, the international competition in biomanufacturing, and the major demands and key directions of the biomanufacturing industry in China. Academician Tan also envisioned the applications of biomanufacturing in the bioeconomy, climate goals, food security, health, and sustainable development.
Before the lecture, Li Jianjun,Secretary of the Party Committeeof Guizhou University held discussions with Academician Tan on topics including the new round of accreditation and evaluation, the implementation of the "Five Developments in Parallel" initiative, and talent cultivation. Academician Song Bao'an, President of Guizhou University, accompanied Academician Tan to plant a new tree in the "Academician Grove" in the university.
