On August 14th, the 18th National Crop Physiology Conference was held in Guiyang. The event was hosted by the Crop Cultivation Committee of the Crop Science Society of China and organized by College of Agriculture of Guizhou University, the Guizhou Branch of the National Wheat Improvement Center, the Key Laboratory of Molecular Breeding of Cereal and Oil Crops in Guizhou Province, and the Key Laboratory of Medicinal Plant Breeding and Cultivation in Guizhou Province. Lasting for four days, the conference attracted over 530 professors and experts from across the country.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Yang Wenyu, Vice President of the Crop Cultivation Committee of the Crop Science Society of China. During the opening ceremony, Zhang Dalin, Vice President of GZU, and Zhang Hongcheng, President of the Crop Cultivation Committee of the Crop Science Society of China, delivered speeches.
The conference focused on cutting-edge research in crop physiology and ecology. 32 experts and professors from universities across the country gave keynote speeches on the topics of the physiological and ecological regulation mechanisms of crop growth and development, the coordinated formation of yield and quality benefits, efficient resource utilization, capacity enhancement, green and high-quality cultivation methods, as well as the application of smart agriculture in mechanization, informatization, and unmanned farming. In-depth academic exchanges and presentations of research outcomes were conducted during the conference.
The Graduate Student Forum of the conference received a total of 60 report applications, and 34 doctoral students were selected to present their academic reports at the conference.
During the event, Luo Changjiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of GZU, and officials from the College of Agriculture met with experts and professors who attended the conference, including Professor Zhang Hongcheng. Additionally, 335 attendees conducted an on-site visit to rice research base of Guizhou University in Panjiang Town, Guiding County.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Feng Yuehua from the College of Agriculture of GZU expressed gratitude on behalf of the organizing unit. Professor Ren Wanjun from Sichuan Agricultural University, on behalf of the conference organizing committee, summarized the conference by highlighting its strong relevance, fruitful research outcomes, clear interdisciplinary characteristics, and high-quality academic presentations. Feng believed that it is a highly productive academic event in the field of crop physiology in China.
