On August 13th, Rongjiang National Friendship Football Tournament kicked off at the venue of Super Village League ( “Cun Chao”). The second match of the tournament featured Guizhou University’s Eco-Tea Team against Guangxi University’s Sugarcane Juice Team, providing the spectators with an exciting football match aimed at strengthening the exchange and fostering friendship between universities in Guizhou and Guangxi.
The atmosphere at the match was lively with cheers and applause echoing throughout. In the first half, Chen Guowei from the Eco-tea Team of GZU broke the deadlock and scored the first goal in the 32nd minute. Yang Siyu scored another goal in the 43rd minute to seal the 2-0 win for the team.
It is worth noting that Rongjiang County is a counterpart assistance county of Guizhou University. Over the years, the university has assisted Rongjiang in poverty alleviation efforts and has been an important support force for rural revitalization in Rongjiang County. Guizhou University’s “World-Class Discipline” team in plant protection has empowered the tea industry with technology. They promote biological pest control methods such as “using insects to control insects” and “using grass to suppress weeds” instead of chemical pesticides, creating a globally renowned Guizhou complex ecological tea plantation under the brand of “Clean Tea”. The university has also dispatched tea industry teams to provide technological support for the research and development of “Qingbai Tea” and “Rongjiang Tea”.
In 1944, when Guangxi University was moved to Rongjiang to avoid the ongoing War Against Japanese Aggression, sports including football, basketball and ping-pong were spread to the county, laying the foundation for the development of football in Rongjiang and serving as the origin of football in the region.
