GZU Co-Hosts the 8th China Plant Protein Research Conference

On July 28th, the "8th China Plant Protein Research Conference and the First Guiyang Life Science Top Scientists Forum" took place at the Guiyang International Ecological Conference Center. This four-day event, organized by College of Life Sciences at GZU, was a collaborative effort between the Botanical Society of China, Guizhou University, and the Chines Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and was organized by College of Life Sciences at GZU.

The conference attracted around 2,100 attendees from over 260 universities, research institutes, and over 40 corporations and institutions worldwide. Distinguished guests at the opening ceremony included academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences - Kuang Tingyun and Zhong Kang, and from the National Academy of Sciences, USA - Xingwang Deng and Jiankang Zhu. Guizhou University's Party Secretary Li Jianjun and Vice President Chen Xiangsheng were also present. The opening ceremony was presided over by Chen Xiangsheng.

Li Jianjun opened with a welcoming address, highlighting the strengths and areas for improvement of GZU, particularly in the realm of life sciences. He urged experts and scholars to support and promote Guizhou's efforts to pave new avenues for western region development and bolster the life science initiatives at Guizhou University and across other western provinces. Furthermore, he warmly invited the scholars to recommend top talents to join Guizhou University and drive advancements in life sciences

Academician Zhong Kang delivered a speech and expressed gratitude to Guizhou University and its College of Life Sciences. He reflected on the history and significance of the Plant Protein Conference, emphasizing the pivotal role the Chinese Botanical Society has played in bolstering China's economy. He encouraged experts and scholars to persistently advance the field of botany, aiming to further China's path to modernization.

Over the course of three days dedicated to academic presentations, four esteemed academicians—Kuang Tingyun, Zhong Kang, Deng Xingwang, and Zhu Jiankang—delivered keynote speeches. Additionally, fifteen prominent speakers, including Shen Jianren, Zhou Congzhao, and Zhao Degang, presented their invited talks. Under the theme of "Plant Protein Research in the Era of Post-Genome Life Science" well-known experts and scholars from China shared insights through over 180 captivating presentations spread across 15 sessions.

At the closing ceremony, following public presentations and a voting process, Ludong University was chosen to host the upcoming "9th China Plant Protein Research Conference."
