On July 3rd, the first session of the 2023 training program for full-time university mental health teachers in Guizhou Province commenced. It was sponsored by the Provincial Department of Education, hosted by Guizhou University, and co-hosted by Guizhou Institute of Technology.
Linghu Caitao, deputy secretary of the University Party Committee, Li Yuan, member of the Expert Advisory Committee for Mental Health Education of Ordinary Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education and master's supervisor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Xia Ying from the Ideological and Political Affairs Department of Guizhou Provincial Department of Education attended the opening ceremony. Ran Longbiao, member of the Expert Advisory Committee for Mental Health Education of Ordinary Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education and Director of the Mental Health Education and Counseling Center at Guizhou University, presided over the opening ceremony.
Linghu Caitao made requirements for the trainees, hoping that they would raise their political awareness, thoroughly implement the new requirements for mental health education, adhere to a systematic perspective, solidly promote the new form of mental health education, and work hard to consolidate new capabilities in mental health education.
The training program lasts for five days and features joint lectures by renowned national psychology experts, including Li Yuan, Ma Xiangzhen, and Zhang Yan. Seventy-five full-time mental health teachers from 75 universities across the province attended the program which covers group supervision in psychological counseling, ethical considerations in psychological counseling and therapy, and experiential psychological salons.
