On May 21st, Guizhou University (GZU) held a special conference on the construction of the College of Media and Communication. Luo Changjiang, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, delivered a speech during the conference and Vice President Qi Si presided over the event.
During the conference, Tang Juan, Vice Dean of the College of Media and Communication, delivered a report on the construction plan of the College, covering three essential aspects: guiding ideology, development positioning, and construction objectives. Experts and representatives, including Li Weihong, Editor-in-Chief of Guizhou Daily Press, Liao Shengqing, Professor at Fudan University's College of Journalism, and Gu Xuesong, Dean of the College of Literature at Guizhou University of Finance and Economics, shared their opinions and suggestions.
The conference emphasized the need for all departments to support the College’s establishment. It also stressed the timely implementation of necessary educational hardware and facilities as well as the importance of a systematic and well-planned approach to the construction process. The funding for the construction of the College should be included in GZU's budget. Furthermore, the conference highlighted that the College should enhance faculty and technological exchanges with other relevant colleges, promptly establish its own distinctive characteristics, and effectively strengthen its talent reserves.
Additionally, the conference called for the refinement of the construction plan based on the professional guidance and opinions shared, resulting in a more operationally feasible task list for the College's establishment.
Representatives from relative departments, including the Provincial Education Department's Higher Education Department, the University Office and the Development Planning Department were in attendance at the conference.
