On the morning of May 6th, the “Outstanding Talent”Signing Ceremony of Guizhou University as well as the Promotion Meeting on the Construction of Philosophy and Social Sciences Discipline were held. At the meeting, Professor Wen Jun, Dean of School of Social Development of East China Normal University, was appointed as the Honorary Dean of College of Public Administration of GZU. Li Jianjun,Secretary of the Party Committee of GZU, and Qi Si,Vice President of GZU attended the meeting, while officials from College of Public Administration and relevant offices also participated. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Jie, Head ofOrganization Department of the Party Committee of GZU.
Li Jianjun warmly welcomed Professor Wen Jun, saying that the introduction of high-level talent teams will be acceleratedso as to promote the high-quality development of the university. As Professor Wen has been deeply involved in the field of sociology for many years and has made remarkable achievements, his coming to GZU to assist and support the work of the sociology discipline will inject new vitality into GZU and its College of Public Administration. It undoubtedly represents a model of cooperative partnership between East China Normal University and GZU. It is hoped that joint efforts will be made to broaden the cooperation fields of the two universities, and promote the construction of an “academic community” together.
Professor Wen stated that East China Normal University and Guizhou University have established in-depth communicationfrom the school to the departments. He is honored to serve as the Honorary Dean of College of Public Administration of GZU and participate in disciplinary construction. In his future work, he will focus on talent cultivation, scientific research, disciplinary construction, social services, international exchanges, teacher training, etc. He will introduce more resources and strive to promote new breakthroughs in discipline of philosophy and social sciencesas well as in the work of College of Public Administration.
During the meeting, leaders from Office of Social Sciences and College of Public Administration respectively reported on the construction of the philosophy and social sciences disciplines, as well as the development of College of Public Administration. According to them, in the past five years, the university’s philosophy and social sciences disciplines have achieved significant resultsand breakthroughs in professional rankings, research projects, high-end think tank construction, and local services, etc. In the future, the university will focus on improving the work system, creating quality achievements, and strengthening leading talent teams. College of Public Administration has also obtainedeffective achievements in many aspects, and itwill continue to explore and innovate, with a focus on disciplinary construction, teacher training, and scientific researchto promote high-quality development of the university.
