On April 7 to 10, the teaching team from Engineering Training Center of GZU achieved fruitful results in the First National Engineering Maker Teaching Ability Competition, held at Hebei University of Technology, with a second-prize award and a teaching research project funded.
The competition included three tracks: “Ingenuity and Innovation”, “New Forms of Labor”, and “Final Evaluation of Teaching and Research Projects”, with 113 teams entering the final. The GZU team presented their latest achievements in engineering training and teaching reforms and introduced the online digital training platform and the offline maker practice platform built for students. Their outstanding performance won them the second prize in the “Ingenuity and Innovation” track. Besides, the project titled “Research on Maker Community Based on the Double Helix Model Integrated Competition and Course Teaching” by the team led by Sun Zhe received unanimous praise from experts and was approved and funded as a teaching research project.
This competition is the first of its type at national level, dedicated to the teaching ability of engineering maker teachers in higher institutions, hosted by the Engineering Maker Virtual Teaching and Research Office of the Ministry of Education, and co-organized by Hebei University of Technology and the Maker Education Base Alliance. Its goal is to exchange experiences and ideas on engineering maker education at universities, build high-quality and professional teaching teams, cultivate engineering maker instructors, and create high-level courses for engineering maker education.
In line with the philosophy of new engineering education, the GZU engineering training center has always attached great importance to the quality of curriculum. It has continued to promote the integration of competition and course teaching. The achievements in this competition reflects not only the teachers’ innovative teaching skills but also the center's efforts in promoting teaching reforms. It encourages the center to further improve the quality of talent cultivation andthe level of engineering practice teaching.
