On April 8, the kick-off meeting of the National Key Research and Development Program “Creation and Industrialization of Pollution-free Fungicides and Antiviral Agents” was held at the conference center of Guiyang Confucius Academy. The meeting was presided over by Kang Zhensheng, an academician from Northwest A & F University.

The GZU President Song Bao’an, Vice President Wu Pan, head of Office of Science and Technology of GZU, sub-project leaders and researchers attended the meeting. Those present at the meetings also included officials from Development Center of Science and Technology of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Department of Science and Technology of Guizhou Province, academicians and experts from different universities and research institutions.

As a chief scientist of this program, Song Bao'an expressed his gratitude to the leaders and experts present, and made a general report on the implementation plan of the program. According to Song, the program will go through the process of basic research, product development, and application and promotion, based on the need to “create environment-friendly fungicides and antiviral agents to solve major crop diseases”. The research results reflect the integration process of the whole industry chain for the creation of pollution-free fungicides and antiviral agents.

Chen Yanbin, deputy director from Development Center of Science and Technology of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs,put forward three requirements to the program team: focusing on the specific needs of the industry, strengthening the demonstration and application of the research results, and standardizing project management, especially the use of research funds. In addition, he replied the questions related to the program.

The program leader, relevant sub-project leaders and researchers made presentations respectively, and Professor Yang Guangfu from Central China Normal University made a report on the research results. The experts listened to the reports, expressed their recognition of the research results already achieved and offered suggestions for the presentations.

After that, Song Bao’an said that the experts’ comments and suggestions were of great significance to the development and improvement of the program. He also noted that the research team would, in the spirit of innovation, pay more attention to the integration process of the whole industry chain, carry out further field trials, and enable the results to meet the practical needs.
