On 17-19 March, the 13th “Challenge Cup” National College Student Business Plan Competition was held at Liangxiang Institute of Technology. Students from Guizhou University (GZU) won 1 gold medal and 5 silver medals at the national level, and 26 gold medals, 25 silver medals and 42 bronze medals at the provincial level.
The project that won the gold medal is entitled “The Innovation and Application of Green Herbicide Cypyrafluone”, which is also the only national gold medal of Guizhou Province in this year’s competition. The team consists of three academic advisers, Academician Song Bao’an, Professor Song Runjiang and Liu Kui, and eight students, most of whom come from the State Key Laboratory of Green Pesticide & Agricultural Bioengineering of GZU. The project is committed to developing a scientific and green weed control system and providing farmers with professional weed control solutions. It also highlights national food security and the forefront of plant protection development and explores the method for increasing grain yields. In this way, it brings about social benefits and demonstrates GZU students’ capacity of scientific research, independent innovation and entrepreneurship.
Moreover, at the Opening Ceremony of the “Challenge Cup” Competition and College Student Entrepreneurship Conference, the GZU graduate Zhou Qi and 5 other representatives from different universities and fields shared their stories about innovation and starting a business. During college years, Zhou participated in many relevant competitions, and became an up-and-coming young entrepreneur in the digital economy.
