On Feb. 28th, a conference was held on the west campus of Guizhou University to motivate students enrolled in 2019 to engage in military training. Participants of the event included GZU leaders, officials of administrative offices and departments, military forces personnel, deputy chief of Staff of the Mobile Detachment of the Guizhou Armed Police Corps and all the police corps instructors, members from the Military Training Division headquarters as well as battalions and company commanders of the Division; and student trainees.

At the start of the event, Luo Changjiang, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of GZU and Political Commissar of Military Training Division made an announcement for establishing the Division for 2019 students. According to the announcement, the training would span from February 27 to March 13, lasting 15 days. Students would be doing tactical training, comprehensive training, and learning military theories.

After that, Li Jianjun, director of the CPC Committee of GZU passed the Division flag to Division Commander Chen Xiangsheng, vice president of GZU.

Zhang Dalin, Vice President and Division Commander delivered a speech to encourage students to be active in this training. He pointed out that it is important for college students to receive military training because well-trained students can serve as high-quality reserves for China's national defense and army building. Given this, such training is a compulsory course for youth students in the new era. He went on to remark that GZU has always attached great importance to engaging students in military training, which helps students become more patriotic, strong-willed, and disciplined. Lastly, for the sake of a satisfactory outcome, he brought forth three suggestions: to take the training seriously and bear in mind the mission; to carry out the training in a well-organized fashion and prioritize training quality and to put in place all safety measures.

In the end, student representative Kuang Yiming made a speech. He said that he would follow the command, observe disciplines, train hard, respect the instructors, and help other trainees. Significantly, he hoped to complete the military training with enthusiasm, strong will, and optimism.
