On the morning of November 7th, the 16th Postgraduates Congress of Guizhou University was held in the lecture hall of Xianzheng Building, West Campus. University leaders Li Jianjun, Luo Changjiang, Linghu Caitao and Li Junqi attended the opening ceremony and more than 200 people attended the conference, including the heads of relevant functional departments as well as faculty and student representatives. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Xiaobin, head of Postgraduate Affairs Department of CPC Committee.

Li Jianjun, secretary of the GZU Party Committee addressed the opening ceremony. He pointed out that young people today were born in a time with many opportunities for them to display their talents and realize their dreams. As a youth organization under the leadership of the Party Committee, the Postgraduates Association should play a good role and take the lead in learning, publicizing and implementing the thought of the 20th Party Congress.

Li Jianjun expressed his hopes for the students and the association: First, by learning and following the thought of the 20th National CPC Congress and President Xi’s philosophy, the association could build GZU’s "College Youth · Ideas Forum" into a forum with greater influence across the country. Second, the postgraduate students should have the determination to serve the country. To do this, they should learn hard to improve their comprehensive abilities, innovation in particular, so that they could help to solve the tough problems emerging in the economic and social development of Guizhou and then contribute to the modernization drive of Guizhou and China at large. He particularly hoped the postgraduate students to broaden their international vision and host more successful "China-ASEAN Xishan Forum". Third, the postgraduate students should devote themselves into the rural development of Guizhou. GZU would continue to implement the "Ph.D. Program for Village Chief" so as to build a platform for college students to make full use of their knowledge, technology, and innovation in the rural vitalization of Guizhou. Finally, the Secretary hoped that everyone would should bear in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping's entrustment, and play a leading role in building China into a modernized socialist country.   

Liu Kui, secretary of the Youth League Committee, delivered the opening speech. He said that the 15th Association, under the guidance of relative departments, has held a series of activities with various themes and forms, and has achieved remarkable results last year. He hoped that the new association would serve the students better and achieve more remarkable results.

The representatives reviewed and approved the work report of the 15th Postgraduate Student Association and “The Article of Postgraduate Student Association of Guizhou University (2022 Amendment)”, and also elected the members for the 16th Postgraduate Student Association.
