On October 20, a signing ceremony between Guizhou University and the Guizhou Branch of China Unicom was held in Xianzheng Building on West Campus in an effort to strengthen their cooperation. Both parties hope to explore innovative collaborative approaches, broaden the scope of cooperation, and add value to cooperation. Jiang Yongfu, secretary of the CPC Committee and general manager of China Unicom Guizhou Branch; Yu Junjun, member of the CPC Committee and deputy general manager; and Academician Song Bao’an, president of Guizhou University, attended the ceremony. Vice president Li Junqi presided over the meeting.
Song Bao’an extended a warm welcome to the Guizhou Branch of China Unicom and thanked the company for its constant support to Guizhou, especially during the pandemic outbreaks. He noted that the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement is in line with the proposal in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China: to fully implement the strategy for invigorating China through science and education, the workforce development strategy, and the innovation-driven development strategy.In addition, the cooperation between the two parties means many other strategies to be enforced for China to become a leading country in education, science and technology, and with advanced network and digital technologies. To expand their collaboration, they should prioritize their collaborative projects and ensure their initiation and completion. He urged both sides to make Guizhou the nation’s digital hub and set an example for university-business projects by creating digital campuses, providing training centers for internship, and building joint laboratories.
Jiang Yongfu made a speech based on the strengths of the university and Guizhou Unicom. He noted that GZU has always been in the lead in developing academic disciplines and scientific research, providing strong technologies and professionals for the regional economic growth, as it boasts a beautiful environment, a long history, a wide range of disciplines, and a great number of devoted faculty and students and talented minds. He also credited Guizhou Unicom with the most reliable state-owned industry, having a most flexible system and mechanism, providing most immediate services, offering most varied categories, and selling the most civil products. Above all, it has always placed responsibility and obligation on top of its agenda. In light of these merits, both sides can complement each other's advantages in a bid to enforce collaborative projects.
During the meeting, Li Junqi and Yu Junfang from the two sides respectively, joined by Song Bao’an and Jiang Yongfu, signed the “Guizhou University-China Unicom Guizhou Branch University-Enterprise Strategic Cooperation Agreement”. In the meantime, participants from both sides had a discussion on a variety of topics related to research projects, network security, digital campus, joint laboratory, internship training center, student employment, and employee competence improvement.
Coordinators from the Guizhou Branch of China Unicom, the BG and the BU of the Strategic Customer Department, attended the event. Other key personnel of GZU were from: CPC Committee Office, President's Office, Academy of Science and Technology, Finance Office, Foreign Cooperation Office, Engineering Training Center, College of Computer Science and Technology, College of Big Data and Information Engineering, and GZU State Key Laboratory of Public Big Data via Provincial-Ministerial Collaboration.
